Bookings per session or per traveler? Choosing the test

Problem. A test randomized recognized travelers between two versions of a trip-planning page. The analyst reports "bookings per session" up about 5% with a two-proportion z-test, p = 0.03. Travelers had very different numbers of sessions, and booking values range from a $90 hotel night to a $9,000 vacation rental. Is the analysis right?
